she interviewed metallica and didn't pull any punches she got into it with them on why they are coming under criticism for their album's production. and every time they rebutted with something stupid she would bring up a counter argument to it from the perspective of the fans.

the main things i got out of it were that kirk needs to shut up in interviews. he took pretty much every question and gave these long-winded responses that made him sound like a dick.

James was actually pretty intelligent i thought.

Metallica criticized metal fans for being too narrow and that the scene was always like that and they have worked since kill 'em all to open the minds of metal fans.

kirk believes Sum 41 has a similar attitude to early Metallica.

rob trujillo says he really likes candiria and meshuggah and radiohead.

kirk and lars apparently shave and wax their legs.

Yeah, I saw that.
James Hetfield actually seems like a cool guy, but Lars is kind of in his own version of the world, and Kirk is way too talkative.

well she asked why they felt the album came under fire and kirk or lars said something along the lines of:

"we do this for ourselves. people need to remember that. they criticize it without investing the time in listening to it because the production doesn't matter as much because the songs are so good. "

and then they also said "people listen to demos all the time that have terrible sound quality and the production on our albums blows them all away" to which julia responded with "yeah but people don't want to hear metallica using garage band production value." and i can't remember their response to that.

also lars wanted to remind everyone that metallica are "wacky" and if you listen to an album and feel they are doing something weird its because you have to remember that they are "wacky" and to expect them to do weird things on their albums because they have been doing it since kill 'em all.
