I haven't listen this in a long time, but damn this sounds good. This and In The Shades Of Life MCD gets way too little respect from people, when talking about older bm-releases, no matter how shitty their newer records are. Hell, BotF was released in '95 and ItSoL in '96 and then there wasn't too many bands like this yet.

I've always written them off as a crappy Borgir clone, pretty unjustified I guess since I've only heard a few songs from their latest. What's their older stuff like then?

Agreed, Old Man's Child's two first efforts are very good, and the other albums ("The Pagan Prosperity", "Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion", "Revelation 666: The Curse Of Damnation" and "In Defiance Of Existance") have a fair deal of good songs too. They DO sound like Dimmu, however, and Galder, the mastermind behind OMC, has been a member of Dimmu for quite a long time. But still. I bet fotmbm and Erik will verbally rip the band to pieces.

Well the most likely thing to say about OMC is that they're DB-clones, but that's not very fair judgement. The keyboards are not too present on the first releases as they are on later ones. Musically I can't say what they sound like in the first releases, but IF you wan't to compare them to Dimmu, then somewhere near Stormblåst's first track, which I also like very much. In The Shades Of Life has no bad songs on it and Born of the Flickering only have few of them.

So maybe it sounds a bit like a cross between Vargnatt era Ulver and Stormblåst era DB, only better.

I wasn't really planning to, but hey, if the fag norwegian asks for it, here we go!

OMC is scheisse and they released a split with DB and the re-issue is PINK! And they are gay and bald! And crap!
