Old-school Swedish death metal, done by a new band, and done well.

Well, I thought so, anyway. There are samples available from their official website - apparently, they don't like Myspace much:

"MYSPACE.COM/NECROVATIONDEATHMETAL is now deleted from myspace.com, we once again would like to point out that no one in the band had anything to do with the account or it's maintenance. FUCK myspace!"

Tribulation = fuckin' ace - just checked out their Myspace, the section starting at 2:10 in Dread City Of Death had me headbanging pretty much instantaneously. Envenomed were okay, good crunchy guitar tone and nice riffs, not too sure about the vocalist though... Definitely gonna be checking out more Torn Apart, too.

If you'll excuse the fact that some of these

1) are older
2) are deceased
3) are not Swedish
4) don't particularly sound Swedish

here's a list of newer old school Death Metal bands that I've come to enjoy:

Repugnant
Kaamos
Verminous
Bastard Priest
Degial
Eviscerated
Karnarium
Slugathor
Flesh
Vomination
Necroccultus
Dead Congregation
Drowned
Blaspherian
Deathevokation
Mandatory
Anatomia
Bombs Of Hades
Facebreaker
Ignivomous
Bloody Sign
Ares Kingdom
Nocturnal Graves
Denial
Obliteration
Excoriate (Ger)
Church Bizarre
Terrorama
Funebrarum

Nice that someone actually listens to a recommendation for once, and I'm glad you liked it.

Envenomed's drummer is Lethal's guitarist in case you didn't know that. Personally I think the vocals are ace, it's a bonus that he doesn't sound like every other death metal vocalist out there.

Since my death metal recommendations are now proven solid, I'll pick my favourite three from DG's list (not that I've heard 'em all, but still)

Repugnant
Kaamos
Deathevokation

Maim - From the Womb to the Tomb

Maim was formed in the small town of Åtvidaberg, sweden early 2006. Maim are Krille (guitar) Scott (guitar) Rikard (bass, vocals) and Otto (drums). Maim started of with a more trashy death 'n' roll kind of sound, heavily influenced by bands such as Entombed (Wolverine blues, To ride shoot straight) and Defleshed. But it eventually grew into a more pure old school deah metal sound with influences from mainly the american scene: Autopsy, Repulsion, early Cannibal corpse and Death to name a few. We have always played for ourselves beacuse we simply enjoy it as hell, and we will continue so. But it wasnt until the first gig in August 2007 that we realised that we really had something going on and it was time to take the band to a bit more serious level but to keep the relaxed easygoing approach to it.

Definitely could hear the Autopsy influence in their sound.

Detest Records has been releasing some fantastic shit lately, the MIASMAL demo is one of the best new Swedish bands I've heard, and their first release by the Finnish SWALLOWED kicked ass as well. Upcoming STENCH OF DECAY demo sounds fantastic too...

Nice recos \/oidhanger, these three bands exhibit the old-school Swedish sound tastefully and respectfully. Stench of Decay takes the gold medal. Hopefully we will see some full lengths from these acts in a year's time.

I think MIASMAL is coming out with a split in the not-too distant future. Not sure about SWALLOWED though. STENCH OF DECAY's demo is coming out in a couple of weeks, so I'm assuming it'll be at least a little while before we hear more from them. MIASMAL's my favourite of this bunch though.

Since I just bought them I might as well throw them in here too; KATALYSATOR and BASTARD PRIEST are both recent bands from Sweden that do the old-school Swedish sound... and fucking rule.

bastard priest is from umeå and rather good

it's basically a couple of crust punk guys that really like dismember

A punch in the face, didn't even recall listening to this band until I ran a search.
