This is almost like a combination of OPETH - Damnation and KATATONIA - Last Fair Deal Gone Down with occasional moments of Brave Murder Day. When they are on, this is very good stuff. The vocals harmonies are well done, and the music is accomplished if not outright extraordinary. Variety in sounds with a few soft moments and the sparse growls make an interesting listen.

Unfortunately there are some emo (I guess) moments that drag it down and make me eye my speakers with confusion and hate. This is my problem with so-called depressing music: why does it sound so giddy sometimes? When I think depressing music I hear super slow doom or maybe black metal, not poppy upbeat stuff. However, these little bits are just occasional so they don't drag the music down very much and to some probably give a nice change of pace.

If I'm not mistaken this is the first offering from Black Lotus Records I have enjoyed, so I won't cross that label off the list just yet.
