The Polar Music Prize is proud to present a star-studded lineup of Swedish and international artists who will honour this year’s Laureates Queen, Herbie Hancock and Barbara Hannigan. The ceremony will be held at Grand Hôtel Stockholm on May 27.
The Polar Music Prize was founded in 1989 by the late Stig ”Stikkan” Anderson, one of the true greats in the history of popular music. As the publisher, lyricist and manager of ABBA, he played a key role in their enormous success. Its name stems from Anderson’s legendary record label, Polar Music.
The Polar Music Prize is one of the most prestigious and unique music prizes in the world, crossing over musical boundaries and awarded to individuals, groups and institutions in recognition of exceptional achievements.
Among the performing artists are:
– Adam Lambert – The Grammy® nominated singer/songwriter and frontman of Queen, will take to the stage with a showstopping performance.
– Ghost – Grammy® award winning Ghost – one of the world’s biggest rock bands at the moment just reached #1 on the Billboard 200 album charts, and #1 around the world, including in Sweden.
– Fredrik Åkesson (Opeth) – Ghost will perform with Fredrik Åkesson, guitarist in legendary Swedish band Opeth.
– Erik Grönwall – One of Sweden’s most powerful and versatile rock and metal vocalists, known from H.E.A.T and Skid Row.
