hahaha... seriously though, my guitar teacher thinks they're evil coz of the distortion and growling... he always says 'umm, is he alright?' (referring to Mikael's growling, haha)... so that's one that doesn't think they're 'girly'.... I suppose the only people that would find it girly are ones that compulsively listen to Nile, Vader, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse etc. etc. or people that find the poetic lyrics and love themes a bit 'girly'... aside from that, the music is quite \m/ !!!

I have very little/no respect for those "We are evil an tough, fear us" type extream metal bands like. The only reason someone would want to act like that would be if they really were a puss. 
I've heard people say that. I want to cut them. One of the things I like most about Opeth is their lack of image. Bands that show they're just regular people earnest about making music make me like them twice as much. Like Soilwork for one.

but i think alot of metal fans specially death metal fans have established a tunnel vision when it comes to music, their too use to the flat out brutal "cliche death metal" hack and slash gore lyrics etc, i mean i like heaps of that shit, but i can also appriciate opeth's beauty and their presence as well as their music

I agree..I don't mind the evil theme/image,but I prefer bands whose members are like those of Death/Opeth.

Right? And rather than embracing something original and emotional, it's shit and gets labeled girly metal. I heard it before. I figured they were one of those guys that needed a daily reminder that he was in fact a he.

When i wore my opeth sweatshirt with the group shot of them on the back to school, 6 people said "They look like girls" But as for people considering them "girl metal," they're just ignorant because they must think the definition of metal is scream and growl like a fucking lunatic.
