IN FLAMES + OPETH TO EMBARK ON CO-HEADLINE "COMMUNION OF SIRENS" NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

TOUR SCHEDULED TO RUN FROM DECEMBER 3 THROUGH DECEMBER 21

NEW ALBUM SIREN CHARMS ARRIVES ON SEPTEMBER 9

(New York, N.Y.): Two of Sweden's most respected and beloved rock exports - that'd be In Flames and Opeth— will descend upon North America this December for a 15-date, co-headline tour that kicks off December 3 in Chicago and runs through December 21 in Toronto. Red Fang will serve as support.

Tickets for the tour, dubbed "Communion of Sirens," will go on sale Friday, August 15 at 10AM local time. Go to www.inflames.com for all details and ticket links.

"I met [Opeth guitarist] Mikael [Akerfeldt] for the first time in 1998 during the recording of Opeth's album My Arms, Your Hearse," recalls In Flames frontman Anders Friden. "I was working in the studio and we've been friends ever since. Now 16 years more beautiful, we release albums in the same cycle and it's with great honor and pleasure that In Flames share stage with our friends and fellow countrymen in Opeth."

Akerfeldt concurred, saying, "We are delighted to return to North America to tour our latest album Pale Communion. This will be the first of two North American Tours and the fact that we are teaming up with our old friends In Flames for this co-headline tour means that we can get to play some large venues and present our new stage show. I am also looking forward to drinking expensive whiskey with Anders on his account."

In Flames will release their 11th album "Siren Charms" on September 9 via Sony/RED in the US. Early praise for Siren Charms has poured in, as ARTISTdirect deemed the album "an epic every metal fan should partake in."

Meanwhile, Ultimate Guitar enthused that "Siren Charms brings in clean and melodic vocals, non-shred-like riffs, old school-styled solos and even bits of electronic and trance synth sounds. It is precisely this pursuit of not adhering to the rules - even if they wrote them - that has placed this Gothenburg, Sweden-based band at the forefront of the pack since they first emerged back in 1990."

Loudwire simply and effectively pointed out how In Flames are "ready to rock your world again."

The song "Everything's Gone" has taken off at radio and will be available on August 19 as an instant download track for fans who pre-order Siren Charms. "Through Oblivion" and "Rusted Nail" are also instant download tracks that are available now. Fans in the US can pre-order Siren Charms via the iTunes Store and also at MerchNow, where there are numerous exclusive bundles and versions of the new album.

Hmm, seems like an odd pairing. I'm not into Opeth at all, but the last time I saw In Flames (2012) they totally brought it. If I like their new album I might go to the Worcester show.

Interesting. No Florida shows, but they both headlined here on their last album / tour cycles, so I'm guessing both will tour north america more extensively next year.

I look forward to this tour. Will be at Terminal 5.

In Flames has lost its mojo, unfortunately. However, they are still one of the best live bands I've ever seen (seen them 4 or 5 times). Highlights are their 2006 tour with Trivium (Webster Hall, NYC) and their 2003 tour with Soilwork (Irving Plaza, NYC).

Opeth... as much as I dislike their last album (not the new one), they still bring it live. Seen them about a dozen times. Will see them every time I get the chance. Still one of the most brilliant bands in metal.

Couldn't care less about the opener, but I'll give them a chance. Looking forward to this one!

Fun pairing, imo. A lot of people think one or both bands have sold out, or lost their mojo, or whoever you want to term it.

I'd love to see In Flames live again, as they crushed the HoB in 09. However...that's clearly not meant to be.

They're doing two legs in North America so I'd have to believe Florida would be on the next one as they always come here.
