Opeth on NPR's "Morning Edition"!

National Public Radio is one of the last bastions of intellect in broadcast media. The interns and show producers are likely to be music geeks, so Windopane wouldn't surprise me there.

I suppose if your point of comparison is like, Rush Limbaugh or sports talk radio or whatever Clear Channel is programming. But in an absolute sense, NPR is anti-intellectual.

um, you're gonna have to explain this some more, man...

what is the "absolute" sense of "anti-intellectual" and how exactly are you applying that to NPR?

thanks... :Smug:

Real intellectuals don't shill for mainstream political dogma and they don't pursue a policy of ignoring anything outside of a narrow band of center-left ideologies and viewpoints.

Real intellectuals also hate Brokeback Mountain.

By intellectual, I wasn't refering to political bents. Yes, I know full well of NPR's left leanings. I meant that they seem to respect that not everybody has MTV or even MSNBC-like attention spans. News stories are often as in-depth as print media. And the subject matter is much more far reaching than in commercial news outlets.

Again, this is relative. It only seems "intellectual" in comparison to the sorry state of the rest of American news media. Its reports are nowhere near as in depth as say, those on BBC World Service.

Cuz Hyperborean is a "real intellectual". :tickled:

Now, I don't know, cuz I'm a fake intellectual, but I have a feeling "real intellectuals" *chortle* don't spend a lot of time on heavy metal messageboards....
