in my experience, there are certain opeth tracks that have something in reserve, that don't immediately bombard you with their brilliance, but reveal it gradually with each listen.

tracks that i find follow this course:

moonlapse vertigo
white cluster
nectar
advent
bleak
epilogue

I very much agree on these two. They were easily my least favourite tracks on Still Life for ages. Over a period of time they've grown and are starting to be two of my more preffered tracks of SL. Funny that.

Pretty much all of Orchid. I started out with Morningrise, and got Orchid and kind of ignored it, but one day I went back and gave it a listen and really began to like all of the songs on there.

More recently, I had BWP ordered and I just couldn't wait any longer, so I downloaded them as I could find them. I was blown away by the songs, and finally just had one left, Bleak, which I got, listened to, and then ignored for a week or two. I must have been insane at the time.

-Hondo

well, when i first heard still life, i thought the moor was amazing..... but then i didnt like any of the other songs ..... after like....10 times.... they were all fucking awesome, especially face of melinda becuase thats one of my fav opeth songs now

-Dirge for November
-White Cluster
-Face of Melinda
-Credence (I found it very boring at first)
-In Mist She Was Standing (Ever notice how wordy some of the titles in Orchid are? Im glad they strayed from that silly cliche.)

Every Opeth album has taken some time for me to fall in love with. I am still working on Blackwater Park.

I'm learning to love more of Orchid and BWP, though right now Orchid is better in my books. I still can't get into SPD, Karma, or Nectar very much. Not sure why, but I'll aim to change that.

Songs that grew on me were Black Rose Immortal, When (been my favourite off MAYH for years now, though), and Benighted.
