Oh and some of my favourites, sadly I could only find that live versions of Lotus Eater and Baying Of The Hounds, which are so much better on record due to the crap sound quality there

Opeth are a massive "meh" band for me. They're tight live like. Mike is also a great guy, but i love him in Bloodbath so much more. Ive got one of his picks from some big India show they did. Our drummer toured with them in a band called The Ocean, as their vocalist. And hes now left after two albums and so many world tours. But hes become friendly with the Opeth guys and hes now a guitar tech. So he is a chuffed man cos they are his favourite band haha. But, thats as far as it goes for me.

Met 'em at BOA last year, really nice lads. specially that Akerfeldt (spelling?) lad, he was really cool.

However, i don't think much of them at all. Bloodbath are altright but Opeth bores me.

I dont mind Still Life. The massive hype around them puts me off slightly... Because people seem to like them for the sake of it. So when i listen to them im trying to listen more closely to see what it is. And i can never put my finger on it. I got Still Life when i was 12, and obviously i couldnt get into it too much back then.

Admittedly, their songs stretch on for a bit too long in some spots..... but still! I need 3 more albums I think and I'll have all of them! *slightly obessesed*

Nahh. Thats just being good and buying music. I do the same... but in various formats. Owning albums like 3-4 times over. Big on collecting music.

I also wouldnt call the songs stretched out. Just not that interesting to have that long. Doom, stoner and post metal bands get away with song lengths much longer, sometimes based on one riff. Sleep's Dopesmoker album is over an hour and has about 4 riffs. One of the coolest albums ever though.

Let me start by saying...

OPETH ARE FUCKING AWESOME

Now that's out of the way...

They were awesome at Bloodstock, I'd love to see them again.

ahh Opeth one of these bands I'll never get into..not a fan of this progressive metal anymore, well it's the same with Pain of Salvation when I listen to their songs: don't think they are bad but too soft and melodic and too much keyboards on it.. though I like gothic-rock and metal like Paradise lost but Opeth don't grasp me..

I'm well into Opeth, well not as much as i used to be, blackwater park is a work of art, and i used to think they were complete geniuses BUT recently i've been noticing that the songs are just excellent "bits" all stuck together... not really structured as such....

but those "bits" are great so i overlook it, damn good musicians although i miss lopez drumming, it just doesnt feel the same since he left.

at hammerfest the light show fucked up and they just played with 2 red spotlights, and it made me concentrate hard on the music, and i got bored half way through. still life and ghost reveries are the sex though.

Bloodbath is not even a band, just studio project but the Bloodbath meatheads don't get that.

Well, they've played a few festivals here and there, which is more than what other studio bands do. They are very much a band. Plus, what does being a "studio project" have to do with making good music?
