A few years back I discovered this Japanese band called Shadow. They put out a brilliant, old school In Flames-inspired disc in 2001 and vanished. Then late last year they came back with a new CD, called Forever Chaos. The recipe:
4 parts Jester Race/Whoracle-era In Flames
1 part Iron Maiden guitar work
1 part Dragonforce outrageous guitar wankery
1 part Angela Gossow
Yep, they are fronted by a gal, and if you didn't see her picture you'd never know. I hate cookie monster vocals, especially when in front of a band with such an amazing knack of melody. The In Flames influence is really strong, but the Maiden influence can also be heard.
Their albums aren't available in the US. I had to, er, obtain them. But I finally found the new one for sale on eBay for $16.
