hair spins, I am in love.... :D

I have quite a few more pictures some good, some blurry as shit, but the show was amazing, I was mere inches from the stage, epica put on an hour setlist (facade of reality was awesome!) and then kamelot put on an almost 2 hour setlist the highlight of which being momento mori in which mari joined the band on stage, she did for abandoned as well as center of the universe (I freaked when they played it!!)

wow!! that looks like you had an amazing time, you lucky bastard :p - epica/kamelot would be a really cool show! glad you had fun, I'm sure the memories will remain with you for a VERY long time!!

It was as though the heavens parted and god looked down upon us and said "let there be metal"...and it was good:kickass:

Your photos are great. Man, you had a good time.
Yes, a Kamelot show is special. I never expected Epica to be that incredible live. I think Simone is only 20, am I right about this? I know a couple of the guys in Epica have Masters degrees. I am thrilled that they are touring with Kamelot. What a show.

from what I have heard simone is 21, but yeah the growling guitarist has a masters in psycology and the other guitarist is a math teacher!

For some reason, I was 100% sure Epica was only playing ProgPower, so I didn't realize they toured and stopped here in Minneapolis. :(

not to make you feel bad, but you missed an amazing show! I'll post pics from that show later this week.

How pretty is Simone in RL, you lucky a-hole? LOL
She's gorgeous! I didn't get up close and personal with the band or anything but I had a great time when I went. Didn't get back till 2:30 AM and I had an 8 AM class the next day, but it was totally worth it :D

That's SO unfair!! I wish I could've met Kamelot and Epica when they played New York. I guess it goes without saying that your time at the show must've been, well..... Eipc. And that pic with Thom is :kickass:

Pretty enough for me to just stand there, gaping in awe in public. Which is something that I NEVER do. :notworthy

Damn I miss the small-venue shows of Detroit. Somebody save me from upstate NY :waah:

How far upstate are you? Anything north of Albany and these may have been too far. :Smug:

Sep. 22 - Poughkeepsie, NY (USA) - The Chance Theater
Sep. 23 - Rochester, NY (USA) - The Penny Arcade

Well, it figures. I wish there were any easy way to keep track of all the bands you're interested in so that you don't miss out when one tours. I've missed a few other smaller bands, too.

And you know what's weird? Every time I buy a plane ticket to CA to see my fiancee, Dream Theater announces a tour stop in Minneapolis while I'm out of town. Seriously. Happened the last two times they came. What are the chances of that?

I'm really glad it was a great show, though. Lots of fans?

I'd say there was a pretty good amount. I think most of the crowd was there just for the sake of going to a show, but the front two rows were dominated my some pretty hardcore kamelot/epica fans. There was a good amount of people there overall considering it was at Station 4 and it's a fairly small venue. Both Kamelot and Epica were amazing, and the opening band Mirror Black impressed the hell out of me. Kinda like Nevermore meets queensryche with lots of cool time changes. After the show, all the bands were just hanging out in the crowd, so i got to meet and chat with Mark Janssen and Simone (got pics with them too!). I talked for a little while with the guys from Mirror Black also, very cool guys.

I was just happy to find out about the gig in time. I'm a huge Kamelot fan and woulda been way bummed out if i missed it. I just moved to st paul a few weeks ago cause I'm going to college here. i just hope there are plenty more cool gigs

I'm sure you know, but mirror black probably references Into the Mirror Black by sanctuary, the pre-nevermore band.

And Requiem, my recommendation is to make a list of your favorite band's record labels. the labels usually keep their tour sections relatively up to date, so run through them once every month or so. Also find a message board for your local metal scene. Most of the ones i've found for seattle (example http://www.truemetalseattleforums.org) have a section for upcoming shows. That way everyone looks out for cool shows and keeps everyone else out to date. That has kept me informed about almost every cool show that comes through town. Finally, the obvious one is find the venues in your area that have the metal shows and check their calendars every now and then for smaller shows that aren't announced.
