From THE PIRATES DEN/SOUTH JERSEY'S ORIGINAL ROCK CLUB
December 13, 2006 the mighty rock-n-roll club known as the Pirates Den met its untimely demise in a three-alarm fire. The Den, as it's lovingly referred to by the regular patrons, was one of the few remaining east coast live music venues to carry on continual support for original rock and metal music. For the last several years, owner and proprietor Brian Cohan has pledged his undying support for local bands and musicians. In addition to all he has done for the local music scene, he has also donated use of his venue for a multitude of charitable fund-raising events to help those in need. Now Brian is in need of our help, especially with the holiday season quickly approaching.
Brian resided on one of the upper floors of the building. Thankfully Brian (and his cat!) escaped relatively unharmed. However the sad fact is, not only has he lost his business, but he's lost his home and all of his worldly possessions as well. Soundman/Stage manager Tony, Bartender Joann and several others are now without jobs. Please join us in aiding our dear friends in their time of need.
Everyone at MetalHeadsUnited, The Scene, our pal Deedles, and scores of other individuals have joined together to plan and promote several benefits as well as set up places to donate money, food, clothes and other essential items for Brian. A portion of the contributions will also go towards aiding employees of the Pirate's Den.
