Does anyone know what happened to Randy Rhoads's polka dot covered V?

Actually, what happened to all of his guitars?

Any info would be appreciated.

Like the one in my avatar? ;) I don't know what happend to his guitars after he died. They may have went to his family. I honestly do not know though. But I have seen replicas of the polka dot V on eBay. Some better than others. But you probably aren't concerned about the replicas, are you?

i thought his mama has most of his guitars? didnt some of them get auctioned off to help the delores rhoads foundation, or whatever?

as much as i love those guitars, I am not a fan of the "bow tie" inlays..

As long as Zakk didn't get any of them, I'm happy.

Thanks for the info.

I'm not lying I do have his pick! Our old drummer Simon saw him play, thats where the pick came from. He's by far, my all time fav player.

Oh great, now I got another reason to worship you.

Asshole!! :worship:  :worship:

I bought an Ampeg 4x12 guitar cab back in early '93 at a local guitar store for my Ampeg SS-150 head.
A week later they sent me a note that said "I understand Randy Rhodes used one of the Ampeg cabs you now own!"
I never followed up on it. Don't know if he meant the same exact model or if Randy owned it or what.
I still have it but am probably going to sell it soon.

From www.randyrhoads.tk:

Where are Randy's Guitars and amps? : They are locked up in a secure and unknown location.

I remember seeing pictures of at least the polka dot V stashed up somewhere, can't find the site now, though. It wasn't a pretty sight, apparently time and the storage conditions have had their toll...

Zakk was actually given the Cream Les Paul by Delores Randys Mom. She gave it to him as a gift. He has it on the wall in his living room from what i have heard and has never played it.

I have alot of old rhoads videos that ive recently converted to digital format. The TV show they did in europe. Live in Chicago and the Japanese Tribute to him they did a few years back.

If anyones interested in getting a hold of them Email me. at webmaster@vegasgothic.com

I been planning on sending them to Andy cause i know hes a big RR fan but i just havent had the time :(

Da Fukn Guru

P.S. Ed Roman guitars made the one Zakk plays in the Suicide Messiah video. It IS NOT randys V. I actually played Zakks at Ed's shop about 3 days before Zakk picked it up. It plays amazingly well. and is heavy as a tank !!!!

Oh ... also ....

in the japanese video they show all of randys guitars minus the Creame Les Paul. His mom has all the guitars with the original strings on them in the original cases.

She has them set up in the video and shows them to the interviewer. It was really cool to finally see the V up close.

Hey Rhaods fans. here is my question...

I am wondering if anyone knows if the pickups in the V are DiMarzios? They look like it, and the obvious bridge pickup from that era would be a super distortion, but I actually have no idea what the neck pickup would be...

I too am a huge Randy fan and like a few thousand guitarists around the world spent months working on Ozzy songs when it appeared Zakk had moved on for good. One of the things I noticed was the killer tone on the live version of "I don't Know". It's just huge, and in having spent a certain amount of time around the recording process, it made me wonder if Randy felt his studio recordings were a bit underproduced, as that track was probably a board tape or live to 2 track, which leaves little room for doctoring. I had a buddy who had a friend who did a record with Max Norman, and he felt that the guitars were rushed in the recording process. I was wondering if anyone here had any insight on Randy's take on the recording process itself...

Sign me up for the DVD!

Best,

Doug

And yes, it is nearly impossible to mention Randy and not mention Zakk. I actually think Zakk has done a really great job of staying true to Randy's vision for the songs, and taken the role in the band with a great deal of respect from where it was when he stepped in through today. With the exception of the beginning of the live version of Crazy Train (no comment), he has really stayed amazingly true to Randy's parts, and after that many shows, even Randy would be playing them a bit differently than the record. I am actually glad that Dolores gave him the guitar. The other guitarists who worked with Ozzy of the years were never as true to Randy's vision and I really think Zakk is a redicuosly talented rhythm player in addition to a great lead player. Had Randy had the luxury of spending the hours in the studio that Zakk was afforded the next Ozzy records would have been even more monumental. No More Tears remains a pinnacle of the post Randy records, and had Randy lived I am sure there would have been a string of records that were that great...
