So today I took my Charvel Model 6 into the local, trusty music store to get it tune to B (the dude who sets up guitars is an awesome guy and has done good work for me so far, though he's never had to set my guitar up to B yet). The dude who was behind the desk at the time (not the dude who sets up guitars) took my guitar, asked me to fill out the regular form for setting up shit and as soon as I said I wanted it in straight B, he got confused.

Me: Yeah, I want the guitar tuned down two and a half steps to B
Young Guitar Store Guy: You mean a fourth down?
Me: Yeah, to B
YGSG: You mean like Drop B?
Me: No, straight B.
YGSG: You mean...eh...
Me: B, E, A, D, F#, B, or B, E, A, D, G, B..I don't care really...
YGSG: *Looks down at form, staring at what he had writeen*
Me: *stare at him*
YGSG: Do you think it can go to B?
Me: Yeah, it can handle it..trust me man..people around the world do it all the time.
YGSG: *stares at paper more*
Me: Trust me..I've done it on my own guitars before, but I really dig this guitar and wanna take good care of it, and I know Derrick can do it.
YGSG:........ok....*stares at paper longingly*
Me: So...eh..yeah...just tell him to take his time, and be gentle...
YGSG: Eh..yeah...no problem *still looking at paper* *as if its glowing yellow light like the suitcase from Pulp Fiction*
Me: Thanks man, take care

Oh how I feared I would get some guy who doesn't know you can tune a guitar past a whole step down. I hope he gives the guitar tech the right information. Oh please please, I love that guitar! Just thought I'd share. Maybe you guys have had the same experiences.....or maybe you guys just set up your own shit....which I need to learn to do more.. Take care
