Oz FTW - yet again Home emergency lighting.

I suppose it would be a good replacement for some security lighting that is usually left on all night.

That does look pretty cool but something about how the website is worded makes me a little uneasy... it looks like a massive sales pitch by some random guy who is chatting to you informally (not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you, but for a product like this it just seems... fake? *shrug* Not sure exactly, but it's not sitting right with me). And for a product made in Mudgee, they don't have any Australian sales outlets or ways to get them from the company directly, and their US branch is selling them for $500USD per 60x60cm squares! That's a lot of money to drop of something you're ordering blind over the net...!

Sceptical here, but if they do work, that's pretty damn cool and would be a great thing to have around the house if you could afford it. :)

Central West inventors are pretty switched on.

Check out the Thompson Coupling from Orange...brilliant, world beating idea (is you consider an inverted Cardan joint as new...his arrangement is).

He's struggling to get his ideas out of Orange...Kicking myself that I ignored his cheesy adds on the tele for people to throw a few grand into his start-up company.

Basically this invention turns heat in the house into light.

It's only 100km away, I might check it out. I've got a couple of spots that I'd like to keep partially illuminated 24/7 (for children wandering to the loo etc), so may look at some strips depending on what I see.

If you do go there, let us know how it is. It's the kind of thing that would be good to have in certain spots in the house.
