Ozzy Osbourne -- Black Rain

Ender Rises

Wass sappening?
It scores a good 8/10 for me. I like the political edge he has on this one and his voice is a little weaker but still damn good. I think this album shows that he's still got it, although it could be a little heavier, but Ozzy has never been one to push the heaviness envelope. I like that Zakk Wylde had less to do with the writing of the songs, also.

Thoughts?

Haven't even heard any "new" Ozzy since Bark at the Moon.

ack

You should of gotten The Ultimate Sin... even though it's kind of commercial.. Jake E. Lee was a amazing guitarist... can play rings around Zakk whose copying of Jake's pinch harmonics in songs is sickening and should be shot for it...

Fucking sucks, along with everything else involving Zakk Wylde. No shocker here, another turd from Osbourne Incorporated. And Hatebreeder, listen to Black Sabbath. Ozzy's vocals are amazing.

I've never been too impressed with solo Ozzy - besides "Crazy Train", all his output has been mediocre at best - but he's good fun every now and then. I don't expect much from the newest album, especially after how god-awful the "I Don't Wanna Stop" single was. It is Ozzy, though, so I'll probably give it a listen.

The single was average at best. And I didn't feel inclined to listen to this album.

Bark at the Moon, Blizzard of Ozz and Ozzmosis are the only good albums he's ever released solo.

Yeah, I have the slightest feeling that he didn't write any of those lyrics. And another slight hunch that his voice was 100% doctored by computer enhancement.

Oh, and the songs themselves are terrible.

I like the new ozzy album. It's just fun. I don't really put expectations on it. I'm not gonna expect another diary of a madman or a blizzard of ozz, but I think the album has some heave and some catchy melodies.

At the people who don't like zakk. I do feel that although zakk has grown rather stagnant in his pentatonic riffing, No rest for the wicked is great ozzy record with killer guitar work. Zakk's accoustic work is good too.

I think that political lyrics are some of the best lyrics around.

Well, that depends on whether you like being preached at while you're listening to music. Personally, it annoys the shit out of me. If I want politics, I'd rather read the newspaper than listen to some biased dipshit ranting in the middle of my music.

Most lyrics are the biased perspective of the hand that wrote it, it's just not always about politics. You're always getting preached at when you listen to music, you just don't always perceive it that way.

Come on, Nec - are you're saying that Opeth and System of a Down contain the same level of preachiness? There's a difference between lyrics that simply tell a story or describe an experience, and lyrics that are clearly pushing an ideology or a political agenda.
