Ok, I didn't make the title up myself (I would be exceedingly proud if I had been the one to come up with it), but it's so cool that I thought I'd report it.

This thread is for discussion of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. Did you get it already, are you reading it, are you liking it?

PLEASE SPOILER-TAG APPROPRIATELY.

It leaked this week, I walked by 2 block line near local barnes and noble, but i really-really don't care.

I just want to know the ending. Hope the fucker dies. With all his friends. And horses. And Salamurhaja.

ok, i have completed the first task successfully - got the book. i was number 1014 and i am already at home now (1.29 am) so it was pretty much a walk in the park. now i am obviously torn between childish overexcitement and the sensible consideration that on monday i have an 8am work engagement hence fucking up all sleep patterns all over again wouldn't do. decisions, decisions...

the book came today, late morning. But i havent started to read yet: i had to do some grocery shopping, and now i should learn form my physics exam (on Friday)... no formulas collection allowd, and no graphic calculator. Which means i have to learn all the formulas...

I am afraid that if i start reading now, i wont be able to stop until I have finished the book.

@ plintus, we're all going to die but I have a feeling Harry will live forever

After the concert last night made it to the nearest WalMart just before midnight, got there in time to see them roll out a pallet of the new/last HP book, those waiting started cheering and clapping, kind of neat. Lots of people there to pick up the book. Maybe in some oddball way I was part of history???
I read the first 2 HP books, probably will not continue but who knows, the thing is I'm not a fiction/fantasy reader.
a favor, when someone on the forum finishes reading this last HP book, please PM with the details of how things end, Thanks
I know its probably all over the internet but anyone can write anything they like, post it as if its the word of God -

nearly halfway and only one major objection so far: why does it have to be so emo? ok, i know the protagonists are teenagers, but still. you think that with a war going on and whatnot they'd be less... well.. emo.

SPOILER

there's supposed to be 6 deaths - and around page 425 we still have only 1 person and 1 animal. i do not know whether voldemort counts in the 6 (i don't have any kind of exact information but i guess that the bad guy has to die at the end of a popular series of children's books - that is, if he doesn't become good or somesuch, which might be a soppy option).

update: i've finished the book, and i think that in my personal rating of potter books it comes third (after half-blood prince and goblet of fire). where shortcomings are concerned, it felt a bit like order of the phoenix: on the one hand, slightly too action-packed, and on the other hand slightly too emo. on the upside, the epilogue was just brilliant. i will elaborate more on specific aspects when i don't run the risk of spoiling anyone in the process!

please point me in the correct direction for this,
I googled it every way possible, all I get is page after page of hoaxes -

Russian media sources were spoiling like motherfuckers after the book has officially been released: taglines were "Harry Potter will [SPOILER HERE]" on yandex.ru (Russian "Google"), I think English speaking media would be sued in such case :)

You could simply look in Wikipedia. The whole summary was put there the minute the book was available. (but I haven't read it).

That's what I did, but before the book was officially released (as it has leaked few days earlier), nothing there, but as soon as it came out - Russians sure didn't walk on the Moon, but they took their revenge this time! :heh:
