Is good.

It's like a mixture of harsh reality and a Brothers Grimm fairy tale..with a dash of Lewis Carroll

I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I'll shut up..I just wanted to see what other peoples thought of it :)

*edit*
OH...one thing....the feast scene. That part gave me the chills, and that character was fucking awesome. :D *wiggles fingers*
The last few films I have watched had some brilliant character design...this is one of them. Great sound effects, too. Everything sounded super textural.

Yea, I watched this movie not knowing what to expect...I heard descriptions from different people, and I was pretty confussled

The Fountain, Children of Men and Pan's Labyrinth are my favorites so far...the first of which I am only "mildly" fascinated with :p

They all have a similar feel....Partly due to the lighting and mood of the films.

children of men and the departed were also top notch. fountain was pretty good, mainly because it was so visually stimulating. I expected more from daren though.

It mostly connected with me on a personal/psychological level, methinks.
It was a profound movie....in part due to the music and images (well, duh)...:loco:

*edit*
Someone I knew was diagnosed with lung cancer a few days after I watched that. It was really strange timing, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. :(

Are any of the films in this thread still in theaters in the States? I saw a poster for Pan here but I don't want to see it in German for obvious reasons. I'll be in the states in 5 days or so and will be rather bored.

i was actually crying at the end of Pan's Labyrinth, i thought it was so beautiful.

i absolutely love another one of del Toro's movies, The Devil's Backbone. it's got a lot in common with PL... set during the Spanish Civil War, use of supernatural characters, focusing on children caught between a sort of fantasy world and the harsh realities of the time. also, with the same wonderful use of lighting and music. ooooo, the music...

I watched the Devil's Backbone last year right after Laura told me about it that day we had to sneak out to go visit sexy will's band show in that creepy bar with a moose head covered in bras.. and oh man that movie ruled so much that it psyched me up to see Pan's Labyrinth once I heard about how similar of a movie it was, LIKE A FOX. so I saw it a few weeks ago and then I promptly watched The Devil's Backbone again the next day <3<3<3
