Perceptions of risk

In regard to the, "other" types of energy we could use, what good comes from dismissing one?
Yes while wind and solar can be useful, they are not able to be controlled by us. We can not control wind patterns nor the presence of solar light.
However, clean nuclear energy is something that would be at our desposal as much as oil currently is to my knowledge.
 
People are stupid. Scientists like to take risks not worth taking. Its like having the crew of jackass and giving them a chemistry lab

To me this comment comes off as extremely brash. Do you honestly think that these scientists are like the crew of Jackass? From what facts do you come to this conclusion? And again, what bad things has science done to us?
