if you can handle something a little mellow buy this album. it starts off a little boring but as the album goes on it gets better

I was sceptical about him doing a cover album and I still haven't heard it (though I was intrigued to hear he'd be doing "Heroes")....still I'd rather he just put out another studio album, it's been 9 years or so since "Up".

he has another studio album in the works. i think late 2011 is what he's pushing for. he said he wants it more upbeat and almost disco like

Yeah, he's got tons of material, so he'll defintiely be releasing another studio album in a year or so.

But Scratch My Back is utter magic; he takes songs that are (for the most part) nothing like his music and totally makes them his own. And yes, it is very mellow; but it's gorgeous. Really a great effort.

EDIT: another thing to take into consideration is the absence of electric instruments and percussion. This was a challenge Peter posed for himself and his fellow musicians. The entire album consists of vocals arranged around orchestral/piano accompaniment. It's very interesting.

i agree. at first i didn't like it but after multiple listens it grows on you. only thing i don't like is since 1986 gabriel has released only 2 proper studio albums
