Come on, Im ready to take the shit! I enjoy Collins' solo work and Genisis greatly. Most people pass his stuff off as just adult contemporary shit, but he's got some great stuff. Check out some early Genisis. Phil's an awesome drummer. He knows his way around the kit. Also I find him to be a unique singer, with a good, very throaty voice. He can also write a great song, such as the classic "In The Air Tonight".

I think Genesis has a few good songs like Jesus he know me but it's not that good
And I don't like Phil's voice, give a good roar, that's way better

^ :tickled: HILARIOUS seeing George Michael in here ! And I thought I'd seen it all ... o_O

My mom used to listen to Phil Collins all the fucking time and now I hate him . Nothing personal - although I do prefer Genesis with Peter Gabriel

I'm not a Phil Collins or Genesis fan... mostly because I am not familiar with anything Phil Collins has done beside " In The Air Tonight " and I know that I can't Walk song by Genesis, that about the extent of my knowledge regarding either... However my fav guitarist Mr. Yngwie Malmsteen if you know or do not know... was greatly inspired when he was younger by a Genesis album his sister brought home... and love him or hate him... Yngwie knows his music... so although I know nothing at all of them... so in MY opinion, if it was an inspiration of Yngwie's I am certain it has some musical merit

well there is prog rock genesis(peter gabriel era \m/ and the first 2 albuns with phil singing) and pop genesis eheh
phil collins was a good drummer in the prog days.
As a singer and solo artist he has some classic pop songs and thats about it, better than the pop of today for sure.

That album was their second...Phil joined them after that album, his first was Nursery Cryme (1971) The Gabriel era was better, but the first 2 when Phil took over were outstanding, the next 3 were decent, but he started taking over the lyric department in Genesis...Abacab(81) was the last ok Genesis album. You should check out his side band in the mid 70's early 80's called Brand X...his drumming was total jazz fusion on those albums.:worship:

Brand X were amazing, played some weird stuff now and then but killer solos (not long, but impressive, especially on Masques) and awesome all around musicianship back then. John Goodsall, Chuck Burgi, Morris Pert, Phil, and some others. Great stuff. Masques is recommended, X-Trax for a sort of best-of compilation to get your feet wet. Mind you some of the stuff was kind of *out there* but interesting none the less. Glad someone else remembers them!

Some of Genesis' stuff after Gabriel was really good. Haven't heard much of anything in the past decade probably even if they did anything then! But there were some good songs on those albums after Peter left.

Morrocan Roll is my favorite Brand X album. Wind and Wuthering is my favorite Genesis album(lead vocals-Phil) but overall, Selling England By The Pound Is their best overall.

I was actually listening to Phil/Genesis last week for quite a while. Awesome stuff. I also got Disturbed's new album which has a cover of "Land of Confusion" which isn't half bad.

Genesis were a much different band when Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett left. But somehow with Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford.....the band just got bigger commercially. But not necessarily better.

These are awesome! (Phil Collins.....Face Value, and Genesis.....Trick of the Tail.)
