Physics

"and pretty much when you explain events in a formula.."

..you decrease it to just a formula.
Thats what science etc. is.
It's just putting what we observe on our scale of reality into symbols and formula's.

It's not understanding it's staring yourself blind on the 'name' you have given to something you saw.

You have been born as a part of some big alive thing.
Apparently everything worked before we came up with symbols .......... AND WAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, I really don;t have any academic stuff to contribute.

I studied physics and mechanical engineering at uni before I switched over to music production.
things to watch out for: make sure to have your math in great shape all the time!

I wouldn't call physics easy, but it IS understandable.
physics is the study and creation of models of reality, it describes what happens in nature through mathematics.
A physicist spends his life trying to create better models
maths is the core of physics, it is the tool-set you use to solve problems
physics is greatly rewarding as it is both logical and highly relevant to the real world
a decent physics qualification = good jobs in a wide variety of industries

enjoy :)

I'm sick of my IT degree, I want to do physics or microbiology or biochemistry.

Science is fucking awesome.

Though having said that...

The hardest thing we did at A level was working out the ideal gas law from first principles. There was 2 solid pages (front and back, size 9 font) of that shit and no one knew what was going on at the end of it

Pretty sure the computer you're using to type this inane babble didn't exist before those symbols.

I am studying media-technics, which although includes Math 1-2, Physics 1-2 and electrics 1-2

I tell you math is the key for physics (this goes for the Faculty highschools in germany)

A friend of mine is making his Diploma in Physics right now. He although told me that math is the key.
He is a A+ student but right now he thinks the same about physics like I do:

Physic is bitch

im reading a book right now titled "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene. Its all about general relativity, special relativity, quantum mechanics and strings theory. Its a really good read and the great thing is that there really isnt any math you have to do or understand to comprehend it (although quantum mechanics is the most baffling thing i have ever tried to comprehend). That and for a book with some math, read "The Universe In A Nutshell". Its by Steven Hawking

I find Physics utterly fascinating and have read quite a few layman's books on the subject, but my math skills are beyond horrible so I can't delve too deep. Kind of like being a fighter pilot versus just going to an airshow watching shit. I'm the dude on the ground saying, "that's pretty fucking nuts."

If you want to understand Physics, you HAVE to understand Maths..

I love physics, and it's sad to say, I love Maths too.. The 2 subjects are inseparable..

Love physics, hate math. Dominate the fuck out of anything conceptual-based, but fail when it comes to actual equations. I set the curve on the multiple choice section of both the midterm/final of my AP Physics class in High School (basically just a college-level course taught at HS level), because they were all conceptual. I failed miserably on the free-response, which was all equations. :(

It's so sad that so many people with good logic skills end up hating maths, because if you can do logic then well.... you can do maths! I think i probably blame bad teaching but maybe there's something else i'm missing
