pickups

I read on the board months ago that both Steve and Eric use Seymour Duncans. TL , which model were they again ???? Both Bridge and Neck pickups. You posted this before ....

must be SDs ´cuz I love SD that much ... I personally use a SD "Dimebucker" as a neck pickup and a SD "59" as a bridge pickup ... they sound fuckin´ great ...

Depends on the sound you're going for.

EMG's are extremely high gain active pickups, which mean they will in fact, fuck your shit up. But is that all you really want?

If all you play is metal, and you want a brutal in your face, up your ass tone, then EMGs are great. However, thats essentially all they do. You can pretty much forget about a clean sound, and you'd better stock up on 9 volt batteries.

I prefer passive pickups, as they're more versatile for the most part, and deliver warmer, more classic sounds. EMGs pretty much give you one sound and one sound only. Its a good sound for what it is, but its always seemed a little cold and sterile sounding to me. I prefer the sound of Dimarzios or Duncans (My Ibanez is loaded with Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge and PAF Pro in the neck. Great pickups...). Actually, my Heritage Les Paul has the best sounding pickups I've personally ever come across, but I dont know if you can buy those individually.

Exactly why I don't use EMG's. Who the hell wants to keep replacing 9-volts all the time. God forbid you leave your guitar plugged in for a few days. Screw that. I had them on my old BC Rich and it wasn't like it was this huge sound difference.

And Steve uses a SD Invader.
Actually, IcedInFlames,I used to use Invaders, but switched to a JB in the bridge, just seemed to match better tonally with Eric, and always a Custom Custom in the neck, with the exception of one of my neck pu's being a Full Shred trembucker.

Yeah! thx Steve.

I´ve ordered the TB4 again, they (to me) are the best for a fat testament-like sound.

About EMGs:
I bought EMGs two weeks ago and the sound sucks. You get much less bass, but much more feedbacks, picking-sounds,...
And most important, the palm-mutes sound like you´d play a 15W-Amp :)

I tried them for one week and all I´ve got out of these is the sloppy sound Slayer always have. Unless you own a Mesa, you won´t get a really good quality power sound.
If you had both, you know the difference.

I replace them now with the TB4.

&plz excuse my poor English :)
