Wow, my son surprised me with the Making of Dark Side of the Moon DVD for Dad's day. It's brilliant. Gilmour was one of my top influences as a guitarist.

Anybody here Floyd fans?

Well yeah , I'm a floyd fan so to speak ,
I just luv their epic stuff , especially Atom Heart's Mother , echoe's ,
High Hopes ( not really an Epic but I just love it.)
and off course , Shine on you crazy diamond.
Thru masterpieces IMHO.

Ooh, pick me! Pick me!

Gilmour is, in my opinion, the most underrated guitar player. His tone is absolutely amazing and his soulfulness is piercing. I can't think of any soloist who makes me wince as much as he does.

Ah! Floyd is amazing! The masters of concept albums, and David Gilmour can bring me close to tears. I used to think they were just stoner music, until my friend (a raging pothead, ironically enough) finally convinced me to listen to a whole disc. Man, it blew my mind.

Did anyone ever do the Dark Side/Wizard of Oz thing? If not, I highly recommend it.

I vaguely remember about this, not merely a coincidence, right?
What should I do, something about playing the record backwards?

You start the cd after the MGM lion roars the 3rd time at the beginning of the movie. I don't remember if it's all coincidence or not. Some cool stuff, but I don't think the coincidences last for the full length of the cd.

I really like Floyd too. Like mentioned above, The Wall and DSOTM are too overexposed nowadays. I also like Meddle, Animals, and Wish You Were Here a lot.

OK, I will do that sometime.
After watching the DVD, I realized how these guys created a beautiful complexity from the utmost simplicity, and I always thought it was all drug-induced. But I don't think that anymore. They are all brilliant composers, especially Gilmour. Did anyone ever see PF in concert?

Yep, I like Floyd too, but sometimes their music just gets too repetitive and kind of boring. Still I respect DSOM, Wall and Atom... besides I should hear some more of their stuff.

i love everyting about floyd from the beggining up untill waters left. Then its sorta picky. MLOR just totally sucked minus one or two songs and division bell was ok but not on par with their previos work.

Huge fan of Floyd. As to the DSOM/Wizard of Oz synch, I downloaded it off the internet somewhere already synched up and everything and put into one convenient video file. While I guess it's all coincidence, there are numerous moments on there that just kind of catch you by surprise, and you're left wondering how the two can go together so perfectly. It obviously works best under the influence.
