Pissed. The reason? Falconer

This band was perhaps one of my favorite power metal band with awesome riffs, drumming and singing. Their first album is the quintessence of what the genre should sound like, while staying somewhat original. The second album expanded to do things the band did not do on the previous record. Most of it was right on but a few songs were a swing and a miss. Now for this new album that comes out tommorow, I have just lost interest. I may be a little bit hasty but if the new songs they offer for download are any indication of how the album will be, I just completely lost interest. The music seems tired and cliched and the singing, while not bad, is nowhere in the league of the previous singer. I will be avoiding this album. Such potentiial. What happened?

hmm, that's bad news and certainly doesn't bring my hopes up for the new one.
i consider their debut an absolute power metal classic, the second one is very good as well and now this? i don't want to believe ist
well i'll give it a fair chance and i'll listen to it thoroughly... but thanks for the warning, it would have been a blind purchase for me otherwise

i just listened to some songs... well... it's not as bad as i expected it to be after reading about your impressions, but it's also not as good as i would have liked it to be. the singer is not the problem imho, i quite like him. but partly, the songwriting seems so unbelievably uninspired i could cry. ravenhair for example is a complete rehash of royal galley (almost the same riff). that's just the most extreme example, there are several other riffs and melodies from the previous albums... and the production sucks ass too, the guitars have no punch whatsoever.
only one song managed to impress me, night of infamy namely. it has quite an original structure (for falconer, that is) and good acoustic guitar stuff. but other than that... disappointing.
