Speaking of 1969 . I'm really into late 60's early 70's kind of rock . And I think it would be really cool to hear opeth do a 70's rock song . Just imagine how twisted it would be .

That is such a cool question lol.. I think it would be thought of as just noise, not music, it would be too far ahead of its time.
It's funny you said that because the very long vocal line in Good Bye Blue Sky is like kind of similar to the vocals in the drapery falls . after walk me down again and guide me into , when he goes ahhh , yeah that part . It's pretty similar in structure . So I think Micke could handle Pink Floyd (Understatement of the century)

I would like to hear Opeth do a Yes or Genesis cover, something in that vein would sound really interesting. My mom likes Opeth and loves Genesis so that would be pretty cool...heh 
As for if Opeth existing in 1969...I don't think that it would work, their lyric style dosn't fit to what was going on, it may be strange for that time period. The music if less heavy would be great for that time period.

Opeth could not exist in 1969 - they have too many influences from music which came after 1969.

Forgetting the last point of "influences" (although I agree with it), I think it would of been awesome. When Led Zeppelin hit the scenes in that year, they were so far ahead in the music curve, Opeth would have been compared with them. And to have 2 bands like that? Man, what a thought!

Some music from the early seventies was soo ahead of it's time. The band YES for example, on some of their 20 minute epics, they had sections of weird noise. But I'm sure a select few from the early seventies would Love opeth.

OK, so maybe not...wait. Yes. It would rule all the other Zeppelin covers, OK _Transparent_? A Pink Floyd cover would be pretty trippy. I couldn't imagine it actually. It'd be done in all clean vocals. Like Remember Tomorrow. Mmm! That's a good one. And a Rush cover? Yeah, they can do The Trees seeing how they're all about the woods.
Off the topic: I've been ALL ABOUT Orchid lately. I mean, I can't get it out of my tape deck in my car. I don't have the will to press eject, so that's it new home. And I can't stop playing Circle of The Tyrants at work.

Achilles Last Stand would be a great cover for any metal band. Do you think Steve Haris and Maiden liked this song or what. If Opeth were to do a yes cover I would say South side of the sky. Emperor should have covered close to the edge. The first 3 mins is so close to what they doing on anthems just clear and slowed down. I don't like the idea of Opeth covering Rush, Dream Theater can have em as far as I am concerned.
