Guitars: active emgs > pod farm head > recab impulse > some eqs and stuff
Drums: Tracked and later sampled (gave up on slip editing)
Bass: split into two tracks, one distorted and HP at 200, the other Lp at 250
vocals: some Large Diaphram cond > some preamp > some saturation, eq, comp, desser, reverb, delay, subtle pitch corrector (that's right i said it) etc.
that's about it.

there's a solo at 2:24 i'm especially worried about as far as how it sits. also the buildup part after that part. but generally the whole thing. i have it pretty flat, and i'm not sure if i want to make it much louder, even though i could..
your thoughts?

Guitars sound wayyy distant. Fiddle around with the ampsim and eq on them. I'd work on this a bit longer before sending it out. I think the vocals sound good, but the reverb/delay is a bit wet for my tastes.

brought down some mids and boosted some treb on guitars, turned em up a little, then kinda mixed around it a minute.

its definately an improvement! i would keep working on it tho if i were you. Try out LePou's Lecto and LeCab2, amazing free ampsim and IR loader. Even if it doesnt work for this project, at least you have some more free plugins! haha. I don't know much about pod tones but i know people can get em sounding better than that. Also, I'd work hard on the drums, maybe tweaking or maybe new samples, but better drums = better mix.

What's going on with the guitars? They sound pretty horrible... like, running an amp, into and amp with about 3 distortions on.

Hi hats need more body BADILY, sounds like you highpassed at like 3khz, go as high as about 400-500 for this sort've song I'd say

I'll definitely try those
Ive had the worst luck with guitar tones I hear people get great pod tone on the first try haha
It's all about drive and eq though so I'll keep tweakin
Or just start from scratch haha
