I need a sugestion on a snare drum to record for a metal band.
I have a dw Acoustic EQ Snare Drum 14*6" and to my taste it sounds not so focused and really badly missing a nice crack.

Two years ago i recorded a band that played funky stuff, no hi gain guitars no screams. but the drummer had a pork pie snare 13*6" and i really like how it made it in the mix. It had really nice crack to it and was so focused like no other snare i recorded, maybe not so much of the depth.
Does anyone of you had experience with pork pie snares or with this size of aother brand? I heard that Jordison signature have a decent sound but never heard it my self, and i guess it's too much of the sample on the record.
Is it worth it to rent a pork pie snare to record?
Any recomendations on the skin would be great too...
