Hey guys I need your help in regards to setting up a portable recording studio. I really need to convert to a pro tools system and also have enough inputs to record an 8 peace drum kit and have a guitar track along the same time (minimal requirments). Any ideas for laptops, pre's, mic's etc please let me know as any advice is much appreciated.

Well, not so many options if it has to be Pro Tools I'd say.
A Digi 002 or 003 along with an ADAT Pre for up to 16 tracks.
As for computers: A PowerBook definitely does the trick (if you have the money). Also a midrange PC-laptop will work (mine is 3 years old and works fine).
