Post hardcore bass tone

So I've been wondering how to get a sweet bass tone like the one in this video (at about 1:00 by the way) for a long time, I know it's not joey's studio but I thought I'd ask about it anyways since it's basically the same genre he works with.

I have little to no experience with basses, and the only one I've ever recorded with was a short scale luna that had a terrible tone.

Good pickups/wiring and new strings are the most important factors.

I'm pretty sure there is another thread asking basically the same question, with the exact same video posted. just saying, search a bit, you'll find it.

Sounds like a sampled MIDI instrument :/ Like 3tuxedo said, use the search function, this exact thread has been posted too many times. Start with a high-quality guitar, high-quality strings, good cables, and a sansamp bass driver DI or UAD Nigel card. Then it all comes down to playing and over-editing.

Just experiment! Tse bod is an amazing plugin though, i recommend getting all of the free tse plugins, all excellent quality. I actually got a decent bass tone with the x50 once which is a 5150 simulation.
