Candlemass, because Messiah rules hard and none of the Rob Lowe albums really did it for me, despite some good jams. I never care enough to check out their other albums.

Candlemass and Death Magic Doom are the only ones that I've heard. They're both good albums. I prefer the former out of those two.

I've only heard Death Magic Doom and King of the Grey Isles among these. Pretty meh but I guess KotGI is the better of the two.

"Candlemass" for me, not only because Messiah is my second favourite Candlemass-vocalist after Johan Langquist, but also because of the songs themselves.

I bought "Chapter VI" when it came out, but found it somewhat disappointing, maybe partly also due to the new vocalist, and then sold it a few years later to a penfriend who was interested in it. I'm not familiar with "Dactylis Glomerata" and "From the 13 Sun" - I think the reviews I read about them didn't sound very promising and the disappointment with "Chapter VI" made me refrain from checking them out. I've got the three albums with Robert Lowe on vocals, though, but while there are a few songs I really like a lot - especially "Embracing the Styx" and "Hammer of Doom" -, I like the songs on "Candlemass" better than on any of these three. (I'd also say I like the first two albums by Solitude Aeturnus better than the albums Robert Lowe recorded with Candlemass.)

King of the Grey Islands for me, with the self titled in a close second and Chapter VI rounding out the top 3 post-Tales albums although every one of them is a worthwhile listen. I put on Dactylis the other night for the first time in a while. Even though its Candlemass in name only its still a pretty strong album. From the 13th Sun is a real interesting album. A "spacey" Candlemass album might sound odd on paper but it really works.

I love the first 2 Solitude Aeturnus records, but I'm not sure I'd agree there. They're both fantastic bands and this past few years I've really started to appreciate Nightfall more so than in the past. In fact I probably listen to it to more than EDM these days since it's a less draining experience. They're about equal at their peaks for me.
