Another Aquaria fan! Hell yes, I'm a massive fan of theirs. Rock on!

Great thread idea here - I was just recently wondering about more Brazilian power metal bands (other than Angra, Shaman, and Aquaria).

This thread is random. For this, I like it :) Aquaria I heard a long time ago when MySpace was actually of relevence to me. Brazil seems to have the right idea. Angra do it most for me but I'll check out your list, many thanks!

I love Aquaria too ! Too bad they don't exist anymore... i guess... :-(

They still exist.
A friend of mine talked to the keyboard player of Aquaria in the metro :p They are recording an album at the moment.
So they still exist which is good news:D
Their last show was in 2009 :p they are doing it all a bit slow.

great ! after some members played with Tolki in Revolution Renaissance... they picked up back Aquaria :) looking forward to that !

YES! I've been searching for any news of Aquaria activity for well over a year now, it doesn't seem like they ever play live but I'm very excited to hear they're recording a new album if that's indeed true.

Tuatha de Danann is another good band from Brazil. They play really happy celtic folk metal. Basically if you can picture leprechaun metal, that's what they sound like.

Oh yea, Tuatha's definitely worth checking out. My favorite songs are Bella Natura and Spellboundance.

I don't know if that sounds amazing or just downright strange.

Not heard of many of these bands before, looks like I'm going to have to put an hour aside and go through them! Thanks for the list. :)

I've been meaning to actually go through this list hehe. The metal in Brazil is just AWESOME! Well, it's just Angra and Hibria that I've really heard a lot of songs from but I love it and I can assume it's great can't I? I also just recently got into Aquaria as well and I can honestly say that they're a great band.

any further Aquaria news ???

As a massive fan for almost four years, this is what I have gathered...

Bill Hudson recently came on here and shed some light onto the situation. He played with them (or at least Fernando Giovanetti, the bassist) for a very brief time in Brazil. Their former guitar player, Leandro Gomes (who played on Luxaeterna but not Shambala, according to my CD booklets) died in December 2010, I believe. But before even that, Bruno Agra suddenly left the band around 2007, shortly after Shambala was released. He's been living around the Los Angeles area in the United States - I have him as a friend on Facebook and he's drumming with the bands "Defender" and "Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction."

Aquaria's pretty much been inactive since then. However just recently I came across live footage (finally!) and it's an entire concert they performed in Rio de Janeiro I believe. Somewhere on YouTube. I can't remember if it was with Bruno Agra or not but I think it was in 2009 so he probably wasn't the one drumming. I think that's the only live gig they've had since Bruno left.

I looked through Bruno's status updates from the last year or so and he's only mentioned Aquaria twice - once about recording a song with them, and the other about Leo Gomes passing away, so that's definitely official. I asked him what the status on Aquaria was, however, and he never answered me.
