watched these the other day, love how you can hear how incredible that avatar live room sounds just from them talking in it. noticed it straight away.

Yeah man, it's something I've always done too. At least a few times during the mix process I will turn that shit the fuck down to see if anything is poking out. You just can't hear things as dynamically when you're blasting the shit out of it. I think a mix should be checked at all volumes, but it's definitely true that if it sounds big quiet, it'll sound big no matter what. You get an illusion of size if you have it cranked.

That conversation with Bob Clearmountain seemed really awkward.

Hahaha yeah, Bob almost sounds like "ahhh fuck, not this guy..."
