The new album from Kurdt Vanderhoof's prog rock project is coming out soon, there are song clips at http://www.myspace.com/prestoballet. I'm not sure about the exact release date or if they're with InsideOut anymore but the awesome 70s sound and analog synths of the debut are still very much there.

GREAT! I like a lot the debut, I was thinking about the band lately. Thanks for the info.

This is excellent news!! I like the Presto album more than the last two MC albums. I hope Kurdt takes this band out on the road for this new release.

Fuck I hate that, gets too costly for me. Let's hope it ends in some distro :erk:

Yeah, it´s a pity. I love first album. Though I consider Metal Church one of my favourite bands I prefer "Peace among the ruins" to "A light in the dark".

New clips sound great. I hope we, the people outside US, can get the album soon.

Scott Albright, what a great singer!!!:worship:

Actually in small print on their site they say that CDBaby is going to distribute the album after mid-July. This is great news for me since I have bought a lot from them in the past and they're 100% reliable, specialized in bands without a big label distribution.

That is good news. I enjoy the first release pretty well. I appreciate the "true oldschool" vibe they were trying to create with the analog synths in the first one, but to be honest....the modern synth is far from "computer music" these days with the right artist behind it. I hope they still use the old style in the new disc, but incorporate some modern synth as well as long as it isn't overdone. The first release had good songs with a nice warm sound on the keys, but the "atmosphere" was missing due to their limitations. Old guitars, basses and drums sound great mind you.... but get a new synth dude.

I just downloaded it and it's like the debut a true 70's prog/hard rock vibe. I ordered it (lasercd.com) just after listening to some of the songs briefly, I was pretty sure to the point of doing a blind purchase but I wanted a confirmation (just in case) and I had it.
BTW, they have a song with acoustic guitar mainly called You're Alive that really got me. Those who like the debut will enjoy this one as well.

Well, they didn't go totally independent with this album after all, it's out through Progrock Records and SPV. So consult your local record store. :)
I got mine this week and I can't see how this album would end outside my year end top 5. So cool. I just love this band's sound.
Maybe loses a bit of energy with the last two tracks, the catchiest stuff is at the beginning... but this is splitting hairs. All fans of the "happy" 70s prog should own this album, and the debut as well!

The album is very good (thanks tsorl for bringing the thread back). Have a lot of Yes influence on it and in a way is more progressive than the debut, still have the 70's vibe and thus it is a great album for fans of classic progressive/hard rock. So far is #3 in my top ten of progressive/rock albums of the year.
