They can wear seatbelts if they want to.
However most Americans find it a hassle to wear a seatbelt in a car. It limits their movement or something. I can't see what you'd want to do in a moving car without a seatbelt that can you can't do with one on. Besides stupid things.
It's automatic for me too. Whenever I go back to Indonesia it's a bit weird, cos I reach for the belt and just grab thin air, cos they don't have seatbelts there......
I used to put my seatbelt on at the drive in when I got back into the car after going to get food or take a leak, It was just a force of habit. Finally I have a habit that will not kill me.
We have done some touring and driving over this wide brown land and I tell ya, The thought has crossed my mind more than a few times how lucky we have been -
That road is fucking dangerous and long hours behind the wheel of a rickety old bus doesn't help.
For those that are gonna tour..... get some fucking responsible drivers - We had a dude drive for us once who showed us a fucking white knuckle ride from hell. Never again - Get someone who doesn't fucking smoke pot or drink. Not that these are bad things, it;s that they don't mix with driving but you kids already knew that.
