Sorry for the utterly pointless and self indulgent thread, but just stuck this album on and was reminded of how great it is.

You can see where Dream Theater got A LOT of their cues from.

I remember now.... ;)

No fucking way!

I'm at work and 'Eyes Of A Stranger' just came on the radio....30mins after posting this thread. What are the chances!? It even ends with "I remember now". Amazing.

Anyone else think the main riff from that song sounds like Somewhere in Time by Iron Maiden?

I remember this to be an awesome concert, too.
For the longest time - I didn't really dig Queensyrche ... but then (just out of the blue) I started to love them.
Very talented guys.

I saw Queensryche open for Judas Priest a few years ago, absolutely amazing. Geoff Tate has one of the most unique voices, and I would just like to point out, he looks like a total woman in the Hear n Aid:Stars video :heh: It cracks me up every time.

Back at my other job I used to open up the bay door I worked by, crank some Operation Mindcrime and work for 5 hours straight. Get a snack, turn on some AC/DC or Van Halen and work the rest of the day.

It would have been perfect if it wasn't for the management.

As mentioned....Paul Northfield....'nuff said. Best bass tones in the business IMO.

Sweet, sweet Christ, you said it there. Operation Mindcrime is such an amazing album its ridiculous. I actually prefer Operation Livecrime any day of the week though. One of the best live albums I've heard and I've watched my original VHS copy probably 1000 times. Suite Sister Mary! I loved their whole dramatic shtick as well. Chris DeGarmo...........I love his solos. Nothing too flashy, but tons of tone and passion.

If I had to pick a single best album of all time, I wouldn`t think for a second - Mindcrime is IT.
It`s perfect in all aspects.

Oooh. Funny bit of info regarding Queensryche and Dream Theater... Allegedly:

"As I Am" (The first song on Dream Theater's 'Train Of Thought') is about Chris DeGarmo. DT and Queensryche were on tour and Degarmo kept saying to Petrucci "you're good man, but you need to slow down - you're playing too many notes" etc. So Mr Petrucci used his fantastic lyric-writing abilities to produces such gems as:

"Don't tell me what's in, Tell me how to write
Don't tell me how to win this fight"

"I've been trying to justify you, In the end I will just defy you"

"Slow down, You're thinking too much
Where is your soul? You cannot touch the way I play"
