I'm coming over from the U.S. and wondering which hotels are within walking distance of the venue and which ones you'd recommend. I'd like to make reservations soon. Thanks in advance and I can't wait to make my first trip to the U.K.

I'm coming from the US as well. In the past, whenever I visited an English town/city, I was able to get a room at a bed & breakfast in town on the day I arrived. Due to Bloodstock, will Derby be all booked up in advance do you think? I was planning on just playing it by ear but if I hear otherwise I'll book something.

There will more than likely be places somewhere but I wouldn’t risk it over that kind of traveling distance, especially as there will probably be quite a few people looking for the best places to stay over the weekend.

I'm staying at the Best Western Midland Derby Hotel. No idea if it's any good, but it's not too pricey, and it's close to the venue. There's a "where to stay" link on the Bloodstock web site, where you can get a list of hotels, B&Bs and self catering places.

Favours from good-looking males eh???

Rules me out then

Me and the guys are also looking for somewhere to stay for 3 days over the Bloodstock weekend...there's 8 of us though which has ruled us out of most B+B's!

Try contacting Dave at Argon Events - he set up a lot of people staying there last year in the Derby University Halls of Residence (Holiday time and empty) at a very good rate.

Dave's number is 01942 896868 - tell him Vince sent you.

talking of argon events, when are their packages likely to be up for this year's bloodstock? as a poor, lazy non-driving student from near manchester with similar friends, i found them pretty much the only way to get to the event last year, but this year their site seems to have been saying "on sale soon" for the past few months, and with accomodation too this becomes more of a problem...
