Quick XXX tone test. (OD-808, Genz Benz G-flex 2x12, SD2.0)

Alright, added a bit of 'verb to the snare and OHs, and added compression to the guitar tracks... Link's the same as the 2nd version.


Advices, complaints, insults, etc?
 
The guitar sounds quite nice, but the drums are really off putting. The crash that goes in the left side the whole time is pretty obnoxious, the kick sounds very plastic and makes the whole mix pump.
I guess it just isn't my style more than anything.
 
I guess you don't listen to much LoG, then.


I can definitely see why someone wouldn't like it. Hell, I don't even like it that much. More of a tone test than anything, really.
 
Guitars sound nice, I like how meaty they are. But like said the crash is somewhat annoying, and TBH I think the kick sounds terrible. It's just a wet slap with no body (and I'd say too much click, which does sound a little like clipping). A cardboard box being hit with a rubber boot comes into mind. Not a fan of the 808's either, I don't usually mind sub drops but I like sine waves better.

But yeah, the guitar tone is good :)

The sample didn't have much top end, all I did was give it a ~2db boost at around 4-5k. I don't know as I don't have the project saved anymore.


In retrospect, I have a high passed kick click sample somewhere, shoulda used that. :lol:
