Omnibus Press has set a May 1 U.S. release date (March 17 in the U.K.) for the 256-page paperback "Know Your Enemy: The Story Of Rage Against The Machine" from Joel McIver, the British author whose other other works include biographies of BLACK SABBATH, SLAYER, ICE CUBE and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. Says McIver: "I'm delighted to announce the imminent appearance on bookshelves of 'Know Your Enemy', my biography of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. "I've wanted to write a RAGE book for some years now, but felt that the story needed to wait until the band's glory years are behind them, as they now almost certainly are. A natural peak came in 2009 and 2010 with the 'X-Factor'-slaying 'Killing In The Name' and the Victory show in London, and I was lucky enough to have the organiser Jon Morter help out with that side of RAGE's fairly insane tale. Elsewhere in the book, I enlisted the help of several learned writers and academics to illuminate the various sociopolitical issues which RAGE address in their music and offstage activism, making 'Know Your Enemy' rather different from the usual rock yarn. I even got guitarist Tom Morello's blessing to write it, although the band themselves declined to be involved. "Hope you like it — I certainly had a blast putting it together." The deluxe-edition reissue of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's classic 1992 self-titled debut came out on November 27, 2012, complete with unreleased demos and tons of live material. "Rage Against The Machine XX", as the new reissue is called, was made available in three versions: a regular single disc, a two-CD/one-DVD package, and a deluxe box set featuring the CDs, two DVDs, the album on vinyl picture disc, plus a 40-page booklet and a double-sided poster. The first CD features three hard-to-find B-sides along with the original album, while the second CD contains the rare, original RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE 1991 demo tape that helped land the group their record deal with Sony. The first DVD contains RAGE's free concert in Finsbury Park on June 2010. Also included are music videos and other live concert performance clips. The second DVD features RAGE's first public performance ever at Cal State North Ridge in October 1991, plus various rare early concert clips. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE disbanded in 2000 but reunited in 2007 and has played sporadic live shows ever since.
