According to The Pulse Of Radio, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello plans to record a solo rock album using electric guitars. After doing several acoustic folk albums under his pseudonym THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, Morello told Billboard.com that playing a number of live dates over the past couple of years with Bruce Springsteen and THE E STREET BAND has inspired him to rock harder as a solo artist.Morello said that singing "The Ghost Of Tom Joad" with Springsteen at an E STREET BAND show in Anaheim in 2008, while also playing electric guitar, made him realize that he could do more that just perform acoustically as a solo artist. He explained, "It was on that (Anaheim) stage that I realized there might be a way to combine all the things I do as a songwriter and a guitar player, and this record is going to be that."Morello played on Springsteen's last album, "Wrecking Ball", and is featured extensively on his new one, "High Hopes", while also heading out at the end of this month on his second tour as part of the E STREET BAND lineup. The Pulse Of Radio asked Morello if he feels like he's officially part of the E STREET BAND now. "I've always looked at it like we are allies and comrades in arms," he said. "You know, the E STREET BAND has a long, storied history that began on E Street in New Jersey. I am a big fan of the E STREET BAND, and when asked to play, I consider it a great honor. That's the way that I look at it." Morello plans to begin recording his new solo album after he gets back from the next E STREET BAND tour, which starts on January 26 in Cape Town, South Africa before heading to New Zealand and Australia.
