Randall isolation cab

@Amberience
Oh no. Not you again. Shut the fuck up already!Do you think this is funny?

Hmm. So.... it's perfectly okay for someone to insinuate that I'm "retarded" ... but not okay for me to do it in a blunt less disingenuous manner?

Go fuck yourself.

ps: You're German. It's well known you people lack a sense of humour. But hey.. you make up for it in efficiency!

It's huge difference between saying someone is stupid and insulting a hole minority for no reason. you should consider how you treat people here; they're no local school members or sth.

"retarded" does not equal "stupid" - you should go get some English lessons.

What I said was no different from what 006 said. The only difference was, he did it in a snide manner, and I did it in a more direct manner. Shit... you could even say that I just asked him a question, and that there was no implication in it! But of course, I'm more honest than that, and yes, I was implying that he was retarded.

You, sir, are being way too sensitive. Anyone else want to tell the big bad man off?

Woooh... dude... that's so stupid I can't believe it.

We eat Weißwurst, drink Beer :kickass: and wear Lederhosen. That's all we do. All day long. And we love it. Ah yeah, we love beeing not funny aswell! :u-huh:

This whole "missing the point" thing is fun isn't it!?!:heh:

The point is, there are many people on this forum with a lot of knowledge, experience, and wisdom. Some of whom haven't been at this nearly as long as I have, but have gained more actual experience or at least some valuable insights...and I greatly respect them. You, however, are not one of them, and constantly show this nearly every time you post comments. I truly hate getting dragged into these things, it's beneath this forum...but as 006 said...sometimes it gets really old. However, I'm sure this won't deter you from leaving more comments...so by all means....please continue.

Since you actually are talking to me like a human, and not a 13 year old girl experiencing her first blobfest... I'll try and communicate with you. What exactly was so off-colour about this post???

The reason I want to hear things on their own is because I'm a subtractive type of guy. I want to capture something in its fullest, and then take away from it with processing - I would prefer a very high quality piece of equipment that I could choose to degrade myself.

For all I know, those demos with the isolation cab, the production could be hiding some nasty biases to certain frequency ranges and even some horrid distortion of the speaker. Things could've been EQ'd out, and you'd never know - because you cannot truly hear a single aspect of a song once it is all congealed together into a produced piece of music. Also a good reason to sit down with just guitarists and not the drummer in your band, so you can hear everything clearly, but I digress....

You just don't know how something truly sounds without hearing it yourself. Next best thing is to hear clear recordings of it. Next best thing after that is to hear it in a mix.

imo.

What was it about this post that deserved me being called retarded, and triggering this whole stupid debate where yet again I'm being bamboozled by people. Where did I step out of line?

Answer. I DIDN'T. 006 just cannot read, and since he's been here longer than me, certain people feel the need to jump in and figuratively call me a cunt.

Now.. my entire argument about the ISO cab was NOT that it sounded bad. I made an informed statement based on my experience of hearing sounds inside cupboards and boxes, and I suggested that the ISO cab might sound boxy.

But I also gave my reasons as to why I prefer to hear gear on its own, and not in a mix. Mixing engineers can do many many impressive things, they can make crappy gear sound passable... but its still crappy gear.

So I wanted to hear some clips of the cab on its own. But nooooo... I just get called a retard.

And like most people... when I get called retarded, whether in real life or on the internet, I get offended and I react in uncertain ways. And then we have a situation like this one. It's quite simple logic really.

Thanks for making the new guy feel welcome everyone! :zombie:

Back to the ISO cab....

/end of that crap

If the ISO cab has a natural lean toward bass frequencies, say 80-100hz, and an engineer (or just a guitarist with recording gear) records it and puts an EQ on it to alter those frequencies, then you're not getting a true reflection of what the ISO cab sounds like... and thus you cannot claim to be giving off a demo of anything except your engineering skills.

This is why I'd prefer as plain as possible recordings, with no drums or other instruments.

Actually though, when I do demo's for gear, I do both. It's no big deal for me to solo the tracks I need and to do two exports.

Now... this doesn't in anyway say that I have a predisposition to think that ISO cabs are shit. I have no clue, and I'm suggesting a way to provide the best possible evidence for people to make their decision.

At the end of the day though... you really have to try things for yourself. Nothing beats direct experience.

I actually feel sorry about ...
not ignoring you in the first place. I'll go off and have an english lesson, because me don't speak good

Well done for being a man and acknowledging all of my points and valid objections. Now, I recommend an Oxford dictionary and thesaurus.

Look Amberience, you're right - I feel 006's comment might have been a little harsh and perhaps he assumed too much, so yeah, you were entitled to be taken aback.

HOWEVER...

You were not entitled to accuse him of having Down's syndrome, and phrase your response as "how in the fuck do you equate blah blah with blah2 blah2," which is a pretty confrontational choice of words, and seeing as how this isn't the first time there have been...misunderstandings between you and many people here, I think it's understandable that people are a little touchy when you get confrontational. And when people started voicing this ("Oh no, not you again!" ), you only painted yourself more into a corner by firing back with insults, telling people to go fuck themselves, and a gross generalization about a country of people (which I think is totally incorrect, I've seen some hysterical Germans and more importantly learned more about different cultures around the world from people on this forum than in any of the many classrooms I've been in). Just cuz other people start it, doesn't mean it's a good idea for you to continue it, and dare I say, if things were to deteriorate into a flame-fest, I don't think you've established much of a credit line for backup.

So my advice is, voice your opinions, but...try not to be so aggressive about it, even if people start with you. Patience is a virtue :)

Okay fair enough, but you do realise that the "gross generalisation" was in fact irony, don't you???

(ie: I don't actually believe everything I say, all the time)

Yes, I did figure that, but in the "heeeeeeeeeeaaat of the moment" (tellin' me what your heart meant), subtle, ironic humor is often not the best idea.
