Bosnia town to build cabbage monument

BANJA LUKA -- Authorities in a Bosnian town plan to build a giant monument to the cabbage to honor their most important produce.

Cabbage is a favorite winter staple in the Balkans, cooked or pickled in a variety of ways to deliver precious vitamin C through the dark months.

"Our region is famous for cabbage. We very much appreciate this vegetable," said Goran Perić, the director of the tourist association in the north-eastern town of Bijeljina.

Perić said the monument to the humble plant would be erected in time for the next Cabbage-Fest, traditionally held in November. "We shall all support this idea," he told Reuters.

Bijeljina cabbage used to sell across the former Yugoslav federation but lost its market after Croatia, Macedonia and Bosnia declared independence and war broke out.

I pick up the Slovenian and Croatian channels here and I must say that they own anything Italy has. Plus at night they show movies in original language...kickass. There's nothing worse than watching an awesome or funny American or British movie and have the dialogue fucked up because it doesn't translate well. Italian channels just show a bunch of half naked women dancing to no matter what kind of program it is. Soon I bet they'll have dancers for the evening news.

Haha, ma non sono italiano! Sono americano!!!! Devo usare questo tastiera yankee perche...beh...sono un yankee!! O forse, "ienchi"? Comunque, e' impossibile a scrivere i accenti e anche altre cose. Scusa, ma il mio italiano non e' perfetto...ho abitato qui da solo 3 anni e ho studiato italiano solo 2 anni e mezzo. Sono stato nella base d'Aviano per 3 anni ma ho finito l'anno scorso. Adesso sono un insegnante d'inglese...o di inglese. Non posso ricordare, dio cane...

I just saw Fascisti Su Marte in the cinema the other day, and although it was great, it got kinda old after a bit. It was much better on Rai...wow, that sounds weird to say. Needless to say, my wife is a huge Fascisti Su Marte fan and introduced me to it. Other reasons she's cool include:

1. She has all the old Headbanger's Ball on video from '94-'97.

2. She gave me her Guitar World collection dating back to 1995.

3. She plays guitar and violin.

4. She's a metalhead.

5. She's Italian (duh!)
