Here's my take on all their studio album covers from best to worst:

1. V - A cool concept that uses both front and back to show off the 'duality' of the masks. Professionally done and very colorful.

2. Twilight in Olympus - Love the ancient architecture and the baroque scultures. The look really projects the 'neo-classicism' that's in their music. And the red sword is a nice touch too.

3. Odyssey - Kind of cheesy, but not in a bad way. The artwork seems typical of superhero comic books like Conan and such. Gotta love those sirens and the way those wisps of hair just seem to cover up the naughty bits... :Smug:

4. The Damnation Game - The artwork is rather 2-dimensional and flat looking, but the picture itself is cool and a bit mysterious.

5. Divine Wings of Tragedy - This is pretty weak IMO. The artwork looks like it could have been done in a high-school art class. The only redeeming quality is the out-of-focus stained glass windows with the masks in the background.

6. Symphony X - Not much to say about this one, except that it works to establish their 'icon/avatar' for all future album covers to come.

?? Paradise Lost - From the 'leaked' pics that I've seen, it looks like this will be a good one....

Anyway, I think I must have too much time on my hands. :)

My favourite is the TIO cover, hands down. I like the choice of colour, the structure, even the concept. Absolutely not a fan of the V cover, though. I prefer actual drawing or photography over CGI, plus the motive is rather plain (not in a good way).

All in all, cover artworks have never been one of SX's stronger points in my opinion. What we have seen of the artwork for Paradise Lost looks promising, though... here's hoping the final version is similar.

V, Twilight, Damnation, Odyssey, Divine, S.X. is my order. Unfinished artwork of Paradise Lost really looks awesome, though...

1. V
2. The Damnation Game (I like it. It just looks cool)
3. The Odyssey
4. Twilight in Olympus
5. DWOT
6. Live on the Edge of Forever
7. Symphony X (Way too plain)

Man, you haven't been here in ages. Cool to see a post by you. :kickass:

On topic, I don't really like the Symx covers. The Paradise Lost one does look really good on the other hand. It will propably be my favorite so far... Second comes V without a doubt.
Anyway they might look like shit on the outside, but there's a treasure inside.

Indeed, that's my favorite as well.
