macbook pro, why mac? a few reasons: more/better recording software on mac, and Vista is going to be bad for the first year.

hey bozzy, IRC me later tonight at around 11 pacific time and i will guide you to laptop bliss. (as i did with some other guy around here). anyway here are some tips:
stay away from no name brands.
get warranty. pays off. it is kind of pascal's bet, but in terms of computers i think is worth it, cause with laptops if anything other thatn the memory or hdd gets fucked the whole thing is fucked (i got pwned by a laptop graphics card not so long ago)
stay away from vista, because that thing is gay, and will suck the first year as mentioned above
get 1gb ram it is worth it
make sure the HDD has at least 5400rpms. if lets say a hdd has 160gb and has 4200rpm, it sucks, no matter how much lesbian bukkake fits in there. i would chose a 80gb drive with 7200rpm ANY DAY OF THE WEEK, EITHER DRUNK< STONED OR SOBER over an inferior speed HDD.
the centrino dual core pentium processors are fucking sick. and so are the AMD turion x2s.

well, my PC with XP is being a pretty stable recording... thing. but ill probably need a mac once I get the hardware that has more than 2 tracks recording at the same time. I just want something to listen to music, watch videos, browse the web, etc etc. Once I get that, I'll back everything up on my PC, wipe the harddrives, and use that strictly for audio and video editing.

then you need for super sexy use, a mobile processor with low wattage, decent frequency 1.6ghz or more (remember it is mobile processor) dual core if possible, 1gb ram considering vista around the corner, 80 to 120 gb hdd with at very least 5400 rpm

Dell E1505, T5600 is perfect. 1 GB ram is sufficient, 2 if you're fucking crazy like me.
