RECOMMENDATION: Forest Stream - The Crown of Winter

This band is still somewhat of a hidden gem that has a long history with ultimatemetal.com.

I can remember spending time in the irc channel for this site around the time the band was about to release their first album "Tear of mortal solitude" and getting samples sent over irc from Lee Barret who signed the band.

Anyhow, it's their second album that I want to recommend. It's called "The Crown of Winter and came out 2-3 years ago after what seemed like an eternity in the making.

The band is from Russia, somewhere not too far from Moscow I believe and play a type of symphonic doom/black metal with carefully crafted compositions. The vocals can be iffy at times, especially when Sonm the darkest sings in a clean voice.

This is incredible. So beautiful... Half way through and this is easily in my top 3 bands discovered this year.
