record collector

Got it yesterday, its a nice enough NWOBHM piece but there's dissapointingly little mention of Saxon in the main article. Wheels of Steel is included in the "albums you have to buy" section, though. The whole thing finishes with a feature on Maiden by Gary Bushell. Bout 15 pages in total, though I can't say the rest of the mag was much interest to me (there's a shedload on Nirvana tho if anyone's bothered, but I... wasn't).

Only Wheels of Steel is mentioned -- the original LP (Carrerre CAL 115, 1980) is valued at £12.

Again, I was a bit disappointed with just the lack of DEPTH in this feature. I reckon most people on this board would already know most of the stuff in the issue ... although I'd never heard of the band Chateux before (their album Chained and Desperate is listed in the 20 must haves and has apparently never been released on CD).

I have been record collector for about 15 years and one thing I can say they treat allgenres with a lot of respect.Lets face metal is always laughed at by people who don't know better.NWOBHM is the most riddiculed,so it was a beath of freash air to see such great bands be treaed with respect.
One thig I will say the reason so many NWOBHM bands failed is because th big gus released such great albums.AC/DC Back In Black,Priest British Steel,Black Sabbeth Mob Rules,Ozzy Blizzard Of Oz and the list goes on.

I bought Record Collector yesterday. So far I have just had a quick look through the NWOBHM feature, and it seems quite interesting. I have some of the 20 'must have' NWOBHM albums, some I don't, and some I've never ever heard of! Was interesting see Holocaust's 'Nightcomers' album is worth £40! I have that one. And Blitzkrieg's album is worth £90! Unfortunately I don't have that one!

I am not a record collector, but I am proud of my saxon-sinlgle Strong Arm of the law/takin'youre chances. I found an old jukebox on the market (old stuff to sell-market), I was not interested in the jukebox, but it contained singles and one of them was this one of Saxon, I was very lucky because the man who offered had the single-case (=where you put the single in, I don't know how you call that....) The single itselfs has a pink/orange color, so..in the middle (Where else??) .. Question is that worth something, how many pounds? But I will never sell it.. I will take it into my crave or the crematorium :hotjump: when my time is there... It gives me a good feeling having this one in my hands..

What memories that brought back.No Def Leppard? ButVenom,Tank,Raven,TYOPT,Diamond Head and all the others.Demon now I always they would be big along with a band called Rage but what do I know? I said that Bon Jovi would go no where when they supported Kiss in 84ish.Pax how many of those great bands did you see I hardly saw any execept Saxon and Maiden. As for that record Mr Celli in mint condtion about £10/15 a bit of a gem Among Saxon collectors.

It was always said that Metallica supported them is that true or just local folklaw.I did go to see shit loads of bands in the 80's but mainly in Leicester I was a bit young to travel far.But I did see Saxon for the first time in 83 at the tender age of 12. I also saw Maiden,Priest and ozzy that year not bad for one so young. The two bands I wish I had are Venom and Diamond Head oh well I stll went to some gooduns.
