Before last week, I merely thought of this band as a band with a lengthy history that has released some of the best industrial metal in recent history.

After listening to a few of their previous releases, There's Beauty in the Purity of Sadness, The Maztur Nation, and Hybreed... I've come to the conclusion that they may very well be the best industrial metal ever.

What do you guys think of them? I'm incredibly impressed by the breadth of material they've covered. From black metal-esque blastbeat marathons to long epic sung progressive metal songs to dark ambient to midpace sludge-athons with harsh distorted vocals and pounding percussion. At times they remind me of DHG, Fear Factory, and Godflesh... but as of right now I am finding them to be much better than these bands, except for latter day DHG which is just impeccable.

Listen to Hybreed, it's a 78 minute masterpiece. Four of the songs are over 9 minutes long, and they run the gamut from a 9 minute electronic instrumental to a slow burning almost Neurosis-esque dirge that goes through numerous changes before ending. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite industrial metal albums of all time, joining DHG's 666 International and Rorschach Test's Unclean.

Peace Minus One

Yes, I've heard it. I don't like it even nearly as much. There are no more slow songs, and the lyrics are even more retarded. For example, one song actually says "1 plus 8 plus 7 equals 187!!!!" It's catchy though, and some of the songs are pretty good.

I would go in reverse order. The further back they go, the more drawn out and melodic they get. Cold Dark Matter is very similar to Sick Transit Gloria Mundi, but New World Rage Order is more black metal. Hybreed mixes a thrashier Ministry styled industrial metal with a long slow early Neurosis-esque style. Older Red Harvest bears a fairly significant similarity to Ministry in the vocals, except when they are cleanly sung.
