So Alchemist's new album, Tripsis is due out in October Stateside. Relapse is already taking preorders... and guess what they're including as a free gift to those who preorder... not a t-shirt, not a DVD, not a poster... a free copy of their last album, Austral Alien.

Think I'm joking? Look here...

Now, seriously, with the nonexistent promotional attention the label gives this band, do they really expect anyone to be interested in preordering this record 2 months in advance who doesn't already own a copy of Austral Alien? [That would be myself and the 7 other Alchemist fans in North America]

Incidentally, Alchemist is probably the last band on this once-great label that has anything new or interesting to offer to the metal world. And more than likely, after Tripsis gets released, people will continue not to give a fuck. :err:

Then its no loss to offer it eh? Maybe it will entice people who want to check out the band, but haven't.

While Alchemist is as painfully gimmicky as anything else in the Relapse stable, their music at least lacks the intellectually insulting character of most of the more overtly 'ironic' bullshit the label pimps.

And yeah, this does seem a bit...odd. Then again, this is the same label whose boss used to shoot his mouth off in the 'zines about how black metal in general and NSBM in particular were 'ruining' metal, but financed the release of several records in the early part of the decade on the back of selling professionally booted copies of 'rare' NSBM releases on eBay for 2-300 bucks a pop (which tells you something about his integrity and the stupidity of that particular fanbase).

ohhhkay... anyone have an opinion that WASN'T recently handled by a proctologist? <_<
