Hello! I'm relatively new to metal (at least it's underground subgenres) and decided to make an account on here! You can call me Colt or McKinley (either one idc) and I am 18 years old. I go by they/he pronouns (use either one idc as well) and I am from the grand ol' state of Alaska. Before I got into more lesser known metal subgenres, I usually only listened to alternative rock, bedroom pop, and conscious rap, the mainstream stuff y'know? Like Nirvana, Clairo, J. Cole, The Marías, Kendrick Lamar, and My Chemical Romance. On my birthday in 2023, however, I met a very important person in December. That person, a month after we met, said they had feelings for me. That person is my long distance girlfriend, and they introduced me to metal subgenres that are underground, like goregrind and black metal. I didn't like goregrind very much, since it didn't fit what I liked in music, but black metal did, a lot. However it took me very long to find out I really liked black metal, and only recently I started listening to more black metal bands. The only notable black metal bands I really like that I could name off the top of my head currently are Nattefrost and My Useless Life. One of my favorite songs currently is a progressive black metal song from Ihsahn, called Celestial Violence, which also features Einar Solberg. Since I liked black metal so much, I decided to delve deeper into more metal subgenres, that being sludge metal, neue deutsche härte, and a small amount of other metal subgenres like doom metal, death metal, thrash metal, and j-metal. The bands that I really like out of those subgenres are Stahlmann (neue deutsche härte), Stone Titan (sludge metal), Unearthly Trance (sludge metal), Dark Angel (thrash metal), and Black Moth (doom metal/stoner metal).

I wouldn't mind any band recommendations if you have any! Even if it's goregrind (or similar), I'd still give the band a chance :3. I really like metal music, and would like to continue discovering new and awesome metal bands! The metal songs I like the most include heavy drums, either growling or screaming vocals, also switching from singing to scremaing/growling at random points, and sometimes keyboards! Oh and I really like breakdowns in music (especially if the drums are the most prominent), it's probably my favorite thing in music. Again, feel free to either recommend me any band or any subgenre!
